* patchwork coasters
Posted on October 20th, 2006 by maitreya. Filed under Sewing/Fabric Crafts.
I’ve been looking forever for a cool coaster pattern. I went through all my Marthas and all my craft books and all the blogs and have been unable to find one that I really like. Today while I was walking out to my car from lab, I finally came up with an idea. I am super happy with them, and I went from vague idea to sketch to picking out fabric to endlessly rearranging fabric strips to making them (and ripping them out a couple of times and making them again) in just a couple of hours. I haven’t been feeling the crafting bug like usual lately, so these made me feel back in the groove. I also love how I have a nice enough fabric collection now that I can just find what I need when inspiration strikes. Now I’m thinking matching placemats….

Cute coasters are a fairly rare phenomenon [we currently have ones commemorating my FIL's company's 50th anniversary ...] - yours are super! I love the lineny look fabric, it works really well with the other patterns.

really sweet… I’ve been thinking along the same lines - matching coaster/placemat set - but like you hadn’t found the right inspiration. Yours are beautiful!

Those are really a nice design! I have a little trouble getting my folded under edge to be even so I haven’t made any yet that I’m pleased with.

I totally now that feeling when you fall off the crafting wagon — but these are just the sort of project to get you back on. Such great, autumnal colors — so cute!

What a great coaster set! I love the colors! I commend you for sticking with the coaster set thought until you found the design you wanted for your them. After all you have to make them your own!
