* gocco pinecone ornaments
Posted on November 12th, 2006 by maitreya. Filed under Gocco, Holiday.
My ornaments for a number of swaps I signed up for: one on Swap-bot, ornamental, and Holiday Ornament Swap. The first one has a deadline of November 13 for some unknown reason, so now I’m nice and early for the other ones. They’re gocco on felt, much like my yeti ornament from last year. This time I did 2 layers of wool blend felt plus a fabric backing, all fused together. I wanted the tags to look like specimen labels, with the scientific name of the tree on one side and my URL on the other in this cool typewriter font called Ghostwriter. I am very pleased with them. My yeti swap last year yielded all sorts of cool ornaments, so I have high hopes that I’ll get some good ones this year too.

This is so great! I love how the stamp looks and I’ll cross my fingers that I’m on your list — I’ve got a 1 in 400 chance, haven’t I? ;)

Hey…I love it! I got mine yesterday and posted a picture of it on my blog. It looks so amazing outdoors in a natural setting…and it will look equally as perfect on my Christmas tree!

So great! I haven’t tried printing onto felt with gocco yet - looks like it works just fine. Do you use a sharpie for your masters or did you photocopy the design. I am looking to find a pen that contains carbon - do know of any that will work?
I love your quilted coasters too!

Thanks for the great ornament, I received it in the mail last week! :)

Thanks for the nice comments! Anonymous: I have had bad luck trying to burn screens off tracing paper, so I scanned my drawing and printed it out on an ink jet printer (most of them have carbon ink). My favorite carbon pens are Sakura Pigma. I got them at an art store. Also, a pointer for printing on felt: it will stick to the screen. Just let it, and then pull the felt off the screen in a quick motion. Once you get the hang of it, there’s very little blurring.

hi–accidentally stumbled onto your site, great stuff! i love this ornament. i’m looking to use my gocco on felt also , which i haven’t done before. i was going to wait until i got my hands on a gocco stamp kit for cloth, but it sounds like you were able to use the ink-for-paper on your felt. is this true? does it work?
