* 2018 updates
Posted on February 25th, 2018 by maitreya. Filed under Random.
Some minor site updates: apparently some tweak on the server side made a bunch of my old images disappear. Luckily the files didn’t disappear, the links were just wrong, so that should be fixed now.
Also updated my link list with a few new ones and purged a few that were out of date. So interesting how everything has moved to instagram now.
Turns out Sitemeter went out of business years ago and I didn’t notice, so my poor site has been trying to contact it with every page load. That’s now replaced with Google Analytics.
Favorite new discovery of late: Promoted Pin Hider plugin to remove ads from Pinterest. I was seriously about to quit Pinterest before I found this.
* new blogroll

Looks like bloglines is finally being put out of its misery, so I moved everything over to Google reader this morning. I hadn’t realized that they have integrated auto-export to a blogroll (have to make the folder public before the option appears), so that was a nice surprise. In previous experiments, I’ve never liked how Google reader sorts everything by date instead of stepping through all the posts from a single blog at a time, but I’ll get used to it. I also don’t like their iPhone site as much, but there appear to be lots of apps that sync with Google, so maybe one will work for me. Another annoying thing was I had to go through all of my clipped posts on bloglines to cull links I want to keep. I suppose at least with Google, there’s less chance they’ll disappear on me at some future date, so there’s that. :/
ETA: I finally noticed the “show new items” option. Thank goodness, since it was very annoying to scroll into the past every time.
* rope bag update

Waaaaay back in 2003 I made Mark a rope bag. In the tutorial post, I promised I would add pictures eventually. Well, apparently eventually=7 years later. Here you go, if you would like to see pictures of my rope bag, which, I might add, is *still in use* after only minor repairs over the years.

Bored with the last design so messed with it a tiny bit. I made a new header at least!
* mini musubi
Posted on January 10th, 2010 by maitreya. Filed under Random.
Too bad it’s past party season now, but I just unearthed this picture and had to post it. These are bite-size spam musubi, 1/4 regular size. We thought that we’d invented them, but, of course, a Google search proves otherwise. We got the taste for these on a visit to Hawaii last summer, and now we make them at home every so often (get a mold if you can find one; it works so much better). mmmmm, spammmmm.
* minor site update

Procrastinating from unpacking by messing with craftlog. I finally made a banner and updated my blogfriends links.
Button image credit goes to monkey123 on Flickr, who posted the image under creative commons.
Brief rant interlude: I’ve been using bloglines beta version, which, I believe, was launched over 2 years ago. They still have not implemented export, and the stupid faq has said it’s coming “soon” since I switched like a year ago. Really makes me wish I liked Google reader enough to switch. /rant
What’s kind of funny is that in the process of updating the alpha bloglines links, which are the ones I can export to craftlog, I rediscovered a few sites that I’d unsubscribed from and added them back. :P

vacation + avalanche of work = 1000 unread posts on Bloglines
Yeah. That’s too much. Also, the avalanche of work shows no signs of abating for, oh, probably forever. So today I went through them and deleted practically everything. I only kept a feed if I really really liked something in the last few posts. Of course I am dumb and moved over to Bloglines beta without noticing that they are no longer compatible with automatically exporting my reading list over here, so you can’t tell I did anything. (I do like their new system for marking posts “read” as you actually read them, though.) I also might change my mind in a month and want all my subscriptions back, so this way I’ll just leave them here as a backup. :P
wedding quilt for my sister + 4 months behind on One Quilt = crafter’s block
Besides the accessories in the last post, which were literally pulled together in an hour the night before my flight, I haven’t been doing much crafting. Partly due to the aforementioned workload, but also because I feel like I need to work on one of my overdue projects if I do anything. Solution to this is to do some little TV-watching project to get me back into it. I’m thinking a little piece of crochet jewelry from a new Japanese craft book I picked up.
Oh, and I’m back on the Getting Things Done bandwagon after falling off last year around this time. Hopefully that’ll bring down the anxiety a notch. I’m approaching inbox zero!
Ugh, this post is a downer. Here, have a picture of my morbidly obese cat with a potato chip bag stuck on his head.
* new design
Posted on April 24th, 2008 by maitreya. Filed under Random.
Time for a site update. I feel kind of sad to see the old design go, since Becket designed it with me. It’s been a long time coming, though. In the process of messing around with all my archive pages, etc, I noticed that craftlog hit the 5 year mark last week, and 1 million hits some time last month. That is crazy.
1. The font for the header is Ahnberg. I made the header and graph paper background myself.
2. I made a nifty iPhone icon for craftlog using the directions here and a free graphic from 123cursors (thanks, Google image search!) Obviously, it’s a little pair of scissors to match my favicon. I will be shocked if anyone else in the world has craftlog bookmarked on their iPhone, but it at least makes me happy. :)
3. Also added a few new things to my bloglines (including one devoted entirely to googly eyes).
4. My artists and shops page had a giant update, since I don’t think I’ve even looked at it for over a year. If you haven’t checked there in a while, I started a list of shops that I’ve bought from. Also, lots of new links for things like resin jewelry.
5. Finally, I don’t think I ever pointed out that I use a Creative Commons license for this whole site. That means that you are all welcome to take and repost my photos, replicate my projects, remix my ideas, whatever you want as long as you give attribution (a link is fine) and it’s noncommercial.
Next on the list is updating my craft library.

Time for another redesign. The butterfly fabric in the banner is Becket’s (keep an eye out for it in her projects).
