* fabric cabinet

Posted on June 4th, 2006 by maitreya. Filed under Fun with Lab Supplies.

Someone at lab was giving away these 2 sets of cubbies, usually used for class handouts and homework. They immediately screamed “fabric storage” to me. We picked up the screw-on legs at Home Depot. I eventually will stain them, but I was too impatient to get all my fabric out of the shoe-organizer and into the new cabinet. The shoe-organizer is now my yarn stash (previous yarn storage was a cardboard box that the cat liked to sleep in).

    It’s perfect that the space between the two cubbies leaves a wide area for storage as well. I’m jealous of your fabric stash AND your fabric stash storage.

    Why is great storage just so exciting? It’s not even as if I am a very tidy person. I’m sure if I had cubbies like yours I would BECOME one.

    Wow you’re so lucky to have found this! It’s functional and has great lines and style! Looks like it was meant to be a fabric storage space!

    How fabulous are thoose!?! They look so mid-century modern – like something you would have paid the equivilant of a mortgage payment for at Design Within Reach.

    what a great find. They look great. I like that the shelves are not so far apart that you end up with big, hard-to-manage piles of fabric (like mine).

    That’s a great idea. (and find!) I’m still struggling to find the perfect place for my stash.

    the thrill of being a scientist and artistic
    congrats for being both! When i did not know what to do when I was to start uni toss up between art and science, my parents said do science you can always do art later. They were so right, i have just finished a PhD in paleontology and now it is possible to do anything artistic.
