* one quilt month 2

Posted on September 22nd, 2008 by maitreya. Filed under Sewing/Fabric Crafts.

The assignment for month 2 of one quilt was to add some sort of 3D element to the block. I thought about pintucks, but that wasn’t going to happen. One of the fabrics has a lace motif, and that reminded me of this doily I crocheted forever ago, and pretty soon one thing led to another. I handstitched it to the gray background fabric, and zigzagged all the seams, so hopefully it’ll stand up to some use.

    I love this!! I have some wonderful vintage lace my mother brought me and I have not been able to figure out how to use it… I think I have to include it in a quilt, or at least a mini quilt. You are such an inspiration!

  • This recipe with white beans is probably my favorite farro salad yet. The creamy beans play a huge role in that, along with the sweet tender leeks and fresh parsley. But it's the chunks of salty, citrusy preserved lemon, a condiment often used in Moroccan cooking, that really takes this salad to the next level.
